Anybody notice the 'organic honey' at Ingles Markets recently? Do you wonder how they are able to put 'Organic' on the label? Well thanks to the Australians for being able to ship it to us. While your there shopping, look at the other honey on the shelf as well. Products of Canada, and Argentina. Hey Bob, Why don't you think a little local?

Bob used to sell Blue Ridge Honey that was packed by a company out of Morganton, NC, however as we all know, just because it was packed by them its unsure where it was actually produced.

I am a Produce buyer for Ingles and new beekeeper. I can't speak for the Grocery Dept. But I think you would be surprised how much effort we put forth to buy locally in the Produce Dept.

It's great that the produce can be certified and I am happy so much effort goes into the purchase and sale of these products. Just wanted people to be aware that folks will buy "organic" honey because of the craze for organic product. The USDA has no certification program to designate honey as organic and in fact our country is too developed to produce such a product. Just wanted to raise awareness so people know that local product is likely more "healthful and pure" than something that is brought in through a back door as import and is able to have a "organic label".
