I see sourwoods blooming, but no bees. Low nectar from dry weather, or what?

Where do you live? Here in the Asheville area sourwood is all but over. Next up, Aster/Goldenrod.

East of Asheville, Bull Cr. Valley (upper Riceville). Yes, the sourwood bloom is now about gone. Hope bees took when I didn't look. I still wonder if folks got sourwood honey when it was in bloom this year, or if it was weak list last year. Thanks.

We got about 10 gallons of sourwood this year from 3 hives. (2 were the over-wintered nucs from Stuart & Carl. If you have a chance to get Nucs from them next year do so, these bees were the best we've ever had!) We're in Candler.

Hi there, I am located in Hyatt Creek area of Waynesville. My one year old nuc/hive that I got from Jon Christie produced 3 supers of sourwood and is strong and thriving. Out of 4 supers extracted I got about 12-13 gallons. I re-queened a hive in May with a queen bought from Jon and it is stronger than ever. Would like to hear from others in Haywood County.
