Installing a portable bear fence
06/17/10 4:06 PM

I have used Electronet netting 3 feet high for over 2 years after hearing a one-year beekeeper describe it while on the panel at the end of Folk Art Center bee school. It fends off bears etc and gives flexibility to modify perimeter of bee yard.

I purchased the fence from Premier Sheep Supplies ltd in IA; they were helpful. I could not find a local supplier back then. I would check locally and on the internet now.

Electronet (82 feet)
Patriot P5 Ac/Dc
Six light tester
3 ft ground rod, 1/2"
Ground rod clamp, SS
Power posts 8 clip 35" (as many as you need to support the perimeter; available at Lowes in white)

Other components:
12 watt solar panel
battery
