Nancy, a veteran in the field of beekeeping, will present “Hot Summer: Time to Get Our Bees Ready for Winter!”
About Nancy Rupert: Nancy has been immersed in the world of beekeeping since 1999, starting with her first class and currently maintaining several small apiaries in Montgomery County, NC. With over a decade of experience as an apiary inspector for the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, she has extensive knowledge in pest and disease management, honey bee stress mitigation, and nutrition. Nancy is currently working part-time at Beez Needz, a supplier of bees and beekeeping equipment in northern Randolph County. Her unique background also includes nearly two decades as a family nurse practitioner, showcasing her dedication to both human and bee health.
Presentation Overview: Nancy’s talk will focus on the critical actions beekeepers need to take during the summer and fall to ensure their colonies are well-prepared for the winter. While humans often think of summer as a time of relaxation, for honey bees, it’s a crucial period for building strength and resources to survive the colder months. Nancy will share expert insights and practical advice on prioritizing tasks to help your bees thrive and make it through to the spring.
