Kirk Webster: My Journey as a Treatment-Free Commercial Beekeeper

Kirk Webster first encountered honey bees in the late 1960s, and since 1992 has operated a full-time one-to-one-and-a-half-person commercial apiary in Addison County, Vermont, that combines honey production with queen rearing, bee breeding, and the production of nucleus colonies. No treatments have been applied in the apiary since 2002. In 2025, he published “Many Best Kept Secrets — A Wonderful and Unusual Life Around Honey Bees.” He has written articles published in the ABJ and spoken at Apimondia.
